Statement necklaces seem to be "the thing" right now. I see them everywhere. JCrew, Banana Republic, Macy's, Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft, all the magazines. . . . Funny thing is, I don't actually see anyone wearing them! Me personally, I love this trend. I like to mix up my jewelry. Some days I might wear a simple sterling silver pendant and my diamond stud earrings. Another day I might wear big chandalier earrings in flashy colors and a bold bracelet. But as much as I love these big statement necklaces, I haven't actually purchased or made one for myself yet! I guess that's partly because I have two little girls that would be very attracted to a large necklace like that and would constantly be tugging on it. Still, I could always put the necklace on after I dropped them off for the morning. So I wonder what's holding me back?
How about you - what do you think of this trend? Is this something you might wear? Tell me what you think. I'd love to make a few statement necklace for my shop but I wonder if this is really a wearable trend or not.

Hmm I'm not so sure - I'm not really a big jewelry wearer. I do love the second necklace with the beige flowers - stunning!
ReplyDeleteI luuuvvvv these necklaces, and have made a few myself! They are really are conversation pieces!
ReplyDeleteI think this trend is fabulous! I'd go for it! Make a couple and see what happens! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this trend...I think that necklaces can really transform the look of a plain tank or t-shirt into something springy and fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI like the 4th one. Second one down on the right. :)

ReplyDeleteHello, SITSta! What a fun blog. I'm not really a necklace person but they're all beautiful and would make great gifts (which is the way I view necklaces). You just never know when you'll catch someone's eye. Go for it. Make a couple. Then, come visit me!
ReplyDeleteHOnestly I think they look fantastic on other people, but I would look so silly in one. You totally need the attitude to pull them off I think. Happy SITS Sharefest!
ReplyDeleteooooooo - me likey!
ReplyDeleteI dig bold jewelry and I like all of these necklaces. The only way it becomes "you" is if you start to wear them =)
Stopping by from SITS to say hi.

I do like the necklaces. I am someone who very rarely accessorizes, but that is primarily because as a working mom of 3 I often get dressed silently, in the dark and am lucky to have matching shoes! I am thinking though that I might just be able to pull off wearing one "statement" necklace instead of trying to coordinate earrings, bracelet, necklace, etc! hmmm... a thought!

I really haven't seen anyone around here in these either. But I like them.
